Product Stock Levels and your eCommerce Shop

If you have the eCommerce and Inventory apps, then you are able to publish your stock levels on the website, and prevent sales of items that you do not have in stock.

The behaviour of shop items relating to stock is controlled by the settings on the eCommerce tab of each product.

The most important field is the Availability setting

This has 4 main options:

  • Sell regardless of inventory

    • in this mode, no stock information is shown to customers, and the item can always be bought

  • Show inventory on website and prevent sales if not enough stock

    • exactly what it says on the tin!

  • Show inventory below a threshold and prevent sales if not enough stock

    • shows an "In Stock" label, until the quantity in stock goes below a threshold you set (e.g. 100 items), at which point the shop shows the actual quantity in stock (e.g. "5 in Stock"

  • Show product-specific notifications

    • in this mode, you can add a custom stock status message, and the item can be sold regardless of the stock level
